Giving thanks is a powerful way to increase your wellbeing and cultivate an abundance mentality. It not only helps your own wellbeing, it can also have an impact on the person that you share your gratitude with as well as the environment around you.
How Can I Bring Gratitude in to My Life?
The following tips may be useful –
- Before going to bed each night, write down 5 things that you are grateful for. For example – today I am grateful for …….
- Start a gratitude journal – in this journal you can put pictures, write how you are feeling, basically anything you are grateful for!
- Let someone know how they have helped you in your life – you could write a letter, send them a card or even call them on the phone.
- Make something for another person – for example you could bake some cookies, a meal for someone or even make a thoughtful gift for a birthday coming up.
Just in case you need some further inspiration to keep you focused on all of the wonderful things that are present in your life and everything you can be thankful for – here are some of my favourite quotes about gratitude –
- “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
- “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” ~ Maya Angelou
- “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
- “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was ‘thank you’, that would be enough.” ~ Meister Eckhart
- “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” ~ Anthony Robbins
- “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” ~ William Arthur Ward
- “Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone” ~ G.B. Stern
- “There is no such thing as gratitude unexpressed. If it is unexpressed, it is plain, old-fashioned ingratitude.” ~ Robert Brault
- “No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” ~ Unknown
- “He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” ~ Epictetus
- “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” ~ Albert Schweitzer
- “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ~ Albert Einstein
- “A person however learned and qualified in his life’s work in whom gratitude is absent, is devoid of that beauty of character which makes personality fragrant.” ~ Hazrat Inayat Khan
- “Expressing gratitude is a natural state of being and reminds us that we are all connected.” ~ Valerie Elster
- “We can be thankful to a friend for a few acres or a little money; and yet for the freedom and command of the whole earth, and for the great benefits of our being, our life, health, and reason, we look upon ourselves as under no obligation.” ~ Marcus Annaeus Seneca
